EASTON, Pa. – Kuony Deng, who spent the 2025 season as the outside linebackers coach at Georgetown, has joined the Lafayette football coaching staff as its inside linebackers coach.
Prior to coaching at Georgetown, Deng was a defensive line graduate assistant at Oregon State for the 2024 campaign. Before his arrival at the Pac-12 school, the Aldie, Va. native served as the defensive line and linebackers coach at Training Haus in Minneapolis, working with some of the nation's top collegiate players to prepare them for pro days and the NFL Combine leading up to the NFL Draft.

"Through his own experiences, he understands the value of academics and what football brings to life lessons. Our players are going to really enjoy learning from him."
Deng, who played outside linebacker at the University of California, Berkeley from 2019-21, He was a two-time All-Pac 12 selection, a two-year captain and a three-year starter. He totaled 154 career tackles, 10 tackles for loss (-37 yards) with 3.5 sacks (-14 yards), eight pass breakups, eight passes defended, six quarterback hurries, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.
He graduated from Cal in December of 2020 with a bachelor's degree in American studies while going on to earn graduate certificates in entrepreneurship in May of 2021 and business administration from Cal in December of 2021.
Following his collegiate career, Deng was a member of the 2022-23 Chicago Bears practice squad, the first person of South Sudanese heritage to make it to the NFL.
Deng replaces Andrew Seumalo who took an assistant coaching position at Washington State after spending eight seasons on College Hill.
