Women's Basketball Set for More Conference Action

    Lafayette women's basketball recently partnered with the Kay Yow Foundation for a season-long three-point challenge. This season, Leopard fans can pledge how much they'd like to donate for every three-pointer made by the team or their favorite player and all proceeds will directly benefit the Kay Yow Fund. SCOUTING ARMY
    The Black Knights concluded their non-conference schedule with a 9-2 record and collected a 59-35 win last time out vs. Colgate (Feb. 4).  Army posted a 14-4 record in PL play last season and an 11-4 mark outside of the conference. 
    Saturday marks the 79th meeting between the Leopards and Black Knights in their respective histories. Lafayette holds a 5-11 record against Army since head coach Kia Damon-Olson has been at the helm. Saturday's matchup is the first meeting of the season between both squads. 
    Looking at the Black Knights' matchup with Colgate, Camryn Tade and Brooke Wilson were the leaders on offense for Army.  Tade finished the outing with a game-high 10 points, two assists and three steals on 5-10 shooting from the floor. Wilson logged 23 minutes for the Black Knights, scoring nine points on 2-5 shooting and she dished out three dimes. Kya Smith and Reganne Reardon contributed valuable minutes against the Raiders as well. Smith scored nine points on 2-5 shooting from the field and Reardon tacked on six points, a game-high 12 rebounds and two steals. Smith currently ranks second in the Patriot League in rebounding (9.7 rpg), ninth in scoring (13.7 ppg) and is shooting a conference-best 55.9 percent from the floor through 22 games.
    As a unit,  Army is shooting 41.8 percent from the floor, 31.7 percent from beyond the arc and 74.6 percent from the charity stripe this season.

LAST TIME OUT
    Lafayette women's basketball dropped its conference bout 62-46 against Navy on Wednesday at Alumni Hall. Sophomore guard Talia Zurinskas tallied a team-high 12 points against the Mids and junior Teresa Kiewiet finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds to claim the fourth double-double of her career.

SCORING SAVANT
    Junior guard Teresa Kiewiet ranks second in the Patriot League in scoring, averaging 16.6 ppg. The North Mankato, Minn. native also ranks highly in rebounding (10th), field-goal percentage (seventh) and three-point percentage (10th). Kiewiet averages 34.4 minutes per game, ranking third amongst her conference foes.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
    Junior guard Teresa Kiewiet was named the Patriot League Player of the Week in back-to-back weeks (Dec. 1 & Dec. 8) for her performances at Pitt (11/25), NJIT (11/30), FDU (12/4) and Marist (12/7). The Engineering major averaged 22.8 ppg across four games and dropped in a season-high of 25 points and five triples for 55.6 percent shooting from deep. 

STARTING FIVE
    Lafayette has used 10 different starting lineups this season: guards Talia Zurinskas, Teresa Kiewiet, Sauda Ntaconayigize and Haylie Adamski and forward Maddison Krug have started the most games (7) together this campaign. Krug has seen an increased role due to a recent Chudy injury and the North Kingstown, R.I. native will now be relied on heavily as conference play continues. Ntaconayigize has also recently picked up an injury, leaving junior guard Rosie Scognamiglio with her workload.

FRESHMAN PHENOM
    Freshman Haylie Adamski ranks third in the PL in three-point percentage (39.3 percent) and averages 10.7 ppg, 2.8 rpg and 1.3 spg in her first season in Easton. The Economics major has been named a PL Honorable Mention seven times.

CONFERENCE RANKINGS
    Lafayette sits at fifth in scoring offense (60.7 ppg) and ninth in team defense, allowing opponents to average 64.8 ppg. Head coach Kia Damon-Olson's group is leading the league in three-point percentage (34.8) and ranks third in turnover margin (0.18).

UPCOMING PROMOTIONS
    Army visits Kirby Sports Center today for the team's Play4Kay Game and Valentine's Day serves as Alumni Day/Senior Day. The final promotional game of the year is the Leopards' Athlete Ally Game (Feb. 18) vs. Holy Cross.

TRIPLE THREAT
    Leopard guards Haylie Adamski, Teresa Kiewiet and Sauda Ntaconayigize are all shooting 35 percent or better from downtown this season.  Ntaconayigize leads the pack, hitting at a conference-best 43.1 percent clip and Adamski is right behind her with 39.3 percent (3rd in PL).  Kiewiet is draining the deep ball at a 35.4 percent clip (10th in PL).

EXCELLENCE IN ACADEMICS
    Lafayette's athletic programs stood out among the nation's best this fall in the NCAA's Division I annual Graduation Success Rate (GSR) release. College Hill claimed a 97 percent GSR overall for the third straight year based on the 19 sports measured while 16 Leopard teams, including women's basketball, achieved a graduation success rate of 100 percent.

2024-25 RECAP
    The 2024-25 season highlighted various notable achievements. Lafayette posted its best season to date in three-point field goals made, draining 190 attempts in 31 games. It also marked the second-highest season threes attempted (559) and the fifth best team three-point field-goal percentage (34.0 percent).
