EASTON, Pa. - Senior Joe Doherty has been tabbed as the Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week following Lafayette's win over nationally-ranked Army. For Doherty, it's the fifth time in his career he has earned at conference weekly honor.
The Leopards' goalie was instrumental in the victory, stopping 19 of the Black Knights' 28 shots on goal (67.9 save percentage). In the final two minutes of action with a 10-9 lead, Doherty denied two Army shots to secure the Maroon and White's win in the conference opener. The Economics major also added in five ground balls and two caused turnovers against an offense that entered the matchup averaging 13 goals per game.
In the Patriot League, Doherty ranks second in GAA (8.12) and save percentage (54.3). In the nation, the Malvern, Pa. native places seventh and 18th, respectively.Â
