Men’s Lacrosse Adds Goldsmith as Offensive Coordinator

Former North Carolina and Mercer standout spent the last three seasons coaching at Mercer

EASTON, Pa. - Lafayette men's lacrosse has hired Sean Goldsmith as its new offensive coordinator.

"We are very excited to welcome Sean to the Lafayette lacrosse family," said head coach Patrick Myers. "Sean immediately stood out in this process as an innovator, a worker, a tremendous builder of relationships and someone who is going to help take Lafayette to the next level. Sean's time at Mercer these past three years have helped prepare him for this opportunity and I have no doubt he is ready for the challenge ahead of us.  As we prepare to build a lacrosse stadium on the heels of opening the Wallach Sports Performance and Lacrosse Center, this is such an exciting time for the program and Sean is a perfect fit to help us shape our exciting future together."

Goldsmith comes to College Hill after spending the last three years at Mercer as an assistant coach. Goldsmith led offensive preparation through on-field development, film sessions and individual meetings with student-athletes. Under his guidance, Mercer averaged 10.57 goals per game. The program's 43 shots per game and 24.21 shots on goal average ranked second and third in the conference, respectively.

Prior to working as an assistant coach, Goldsmith played lacrosse at North Carolina and Mercer. He played his final collegiate season with the Tar Heels, where he competed in 12 contests and racked up 24 goals (second on the team) and 33 points (third on the team). At Mercer, Goldsmith played in 41 games, with 40 of them being starts. In four seasons, he tallied 111 goals, including 35 in his senior campaign.

Following his time in college, Goldsmith continued his playing career in the PLL and was selected to play for Team England in the 2023 World Lacrosse Men's Championship.

Goldsmith earned his Bachelor's in Finance from Mercer in May of 2022 before collecting his MBA graduate certificate in Leadership Development from North Carolina in the spring of 2023.
