EASTON, Pa. - Lafayette fell to #15 Loyola Maryland, 16-7, on Wednesday evening at Fisher Stadium.
Freshman attacker
Georgia Swarr tallied a career-high four goals for four points, leading the Leopard offense. The Greyhounds were commanded by Lauren Perfetto's seven points from five goals and two assists. Loyola's Mae Murphy contributed a game-high 16 draw controls.
In the first period, Swarr notched the opening goal at 13:30. The opponents retaliated with an 8-0 run using three goals by Perfetto. Swarr bookended the quarter for an 8-2 deficit.
Lafayette looked to close the gap before halftime with a 3-2 spurt with goals by
Emma Toner (12:56) and
Isabelle Pohmer (8:03). The Greyhounds led 11-4 at the break.
The Leopards held Loyola scoreless in the third period and added a goal apiece from Swarr and
Kristin Igneri for a five-goal margin, 11-6.
Loyola's Perfetto and Elisa Faklaris combined for four goals in a 4-1 burst through the fourth quarter to close out the game on top.
The Greyhounds held the advantage in draw controls (22-3), ground balls (24-21), shots (36-20) and clears (15-15 to 18-21).
Lafayette's senior goalkeeper
Kennedy Carr matched her career-high of 12 saves, while her Loyola counterpart, Kennedy Buntrock, made four saves.
Next up, the Leopards travel to Bucknell on April 10 for a 7 p.m. opening draw.
