Courtney Svetik Promoted to Director of Athletic Communications

2017 Rutgers graduate has been with the Leopards since 2023

EASTON, Pa. - Lafayette College has named Courtney Svetik as its Director of Athletic Communications.

"Courtney presented a clear vision for how we can strengthen our athletic communications efforts and better serve our coaches, student-athletes and programs," said Director of Athletics Sherryta Freeman. "Her knowledge of Lafayette and our department provides a strong foundation, and she understands both the opportunities in front of us and the expectations that come with this role. I'm confident in her commitment to building strong relationships with our coaches, bringing creativity and energy to our storytelling, and establishing a path for continued growth. I'm excited to support Courtney in this opportunity and look forward to working together as we continue to elevate the Lafayette Athletics brand."

As a member of the senior leadership team, Svetik will provide leadership for all aspects of Lafayette's athletics communications and storytelling efforts across all 23 Division I sports. She will direct the department's media relations, digital content strategy, statistical reporting, live event coverage and public relations initiatives while overseeing the athletics website and social media platforms. Working collaboratively across departments, she will play a key role in enhancing the visibility of College Hill's student athletes and programs, supporting recruitment and engagement efforts and advancing the strategic priorities of Lafayette Athletics.

A New Jersey native and graduate of Rutgers University with a Bachelor's in Journalism and Media Studies, she holds a strong appreciation for the local collegiate athletics landscape and a vision for continued growth within Lafayette College.

"I'm excited for the new opportunity. Lafayette has become my home and I want to use my communications expertise to showcase how special our student-athletes are on College Hill," Svetik said. "It's important to me that we improve and grow our digital presence and bring this department into a new age of collegiate athletic communications. Relationship development, visual storytelling and creativity will all be primary pillars of our new direction and I look forward to the future."

Svetik was previously hired as the Leopards' Associate Director of Athletic Communications for Fan Engagement in the winter of 2023. She produced in-venue shows, promotional contests and special recognition opportunities at Lafayette sporting events during that time. She also balanced various social media strategies and oversaw content campaigns for all programs.

Her promotion follows the departure of Phil LaBella, who served as the Maroon and White's Director of Athletic Communications since 2018. LaBella remains on College Hill in a new role as the Executive Director for Strategic Communications.
