EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Junior tailback Scott Warden rushed for two touchdowns and caught a third as Lafayette upset Holy Cross 28-13 on the Leopards' Homecoming Day.

After a scoreless first half, Lafayette (2-5, 1-2 Patriot League) exploded for 21 third-quarter points. Warden broke the ice on a three-yard pass from freshman quarterback Marko Glavic, capping off a nine-play, 75-yard drive. Glavic completed 11-of-26 passes for 152 yards on the day.

Holy Cross (4-3, 1-1 Patriot League) responded on the ensuing possession with an 11-play, 85-yard drive capped off by a 17-yard touchdown pass from Erreick Stewart to David Thompson to tie the game at 7-7.

All of the momentum went right back to Lafayette on the kickoff, as junior Andrew May returned the kick a school-record 97 yards for a touchdown.

Lafayette sophomore Jamie Anzalone recovered a Holy Cross fumble on the subsequent kickoff at the Crusaders' 30-yard line. Four plays later, Warden, who rushed 19 times for 76 yards, had his second touchdown of the quarter on a 14-yard run.

Warden scored his final touchdown of the day early in the fourth quarter on a 20-yard run to put the Leopards up 28-7.

Holy Cross scored a touchdown late in the fourth quarter on another pass from Erreick to Thompson to set the final at 28-13. Erreick threw for 259 yards and two touchdowns on the day, completing 27-of-43 passes. Thompson caught nine passes for 102 yards and both Holy Cross touchdowns.

The Leopards hit the road for three straight contests starting with Colgate next Saturday, Oct. 28, at 1 p.m.
