Leopard Field Hockey Falls At Holy Cross

Oct. 21, 2000

WORCESTER, Mass.-- The Lafayette field hockey team was unable to contain Mary Beth Clark of Holy Cross on Saturday as she scored three goals and the Patriot League-leading Crusaders beat the Leopards 4-1 in the league matchup.

After a scoreless first half, Lafayette (6-9, 2-3 Patriot League) jumped out to a 1-0 lead eight minutes into the second half off a goal by freshman Meredith Hahn (Hellertown, Pa./Saucon Valley). Leopard leading scorer Megan Monahan (Lansdale, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) picked up the assist.

Holy Cross (12-3, 6-0 Patriot League) came back nine minutes later to tie the contest on a goal by senior Colleen Schmidt. Clark scored the Crusaders' final three unanswered goals in a matter of nine minutes to keep Holy Cross undefeated in Patriot League competition.

Junior goalkeeper Amy Cohen (Linwood, N.J./Mainland Regional) had an impressive 13-save afternoon but it was not enough to give Lafayette the win.

The Leopards travel to Piscataway, N.J., on Tuesday for a non-conference night game against Rutgers.
