Lafayette Field Hockey Falls To Vermont 1-0

Oct. 29, 2000

Easton, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Lafayette suffered a loss on their final home game of the season to non-conference opponent Vermont on Sunday afternoon at Metzgar Fields.

The teams headed into halftime in a scoreless tie thanks in part to stellar defensive play by Senior Alison Fisher (Horsham, Pa./ Hatboro- Horsham) who recorded two defensive saves in the contest.

Junior goalkeeper Amy Cohen (Linwood, N.J./Mainland Regional) came up big in the first half making 7 saves to keep the game close. However, Vermont Freshman Shanon Strenkert broke the deadlock off a loose ball following a penalty corner.

Lafayette outshot Vermont 16-9 but fails to end the season with an even record as today's loss places them at 8-10 overall and 3-3 in the Patriot League. Vermont improves to 8-9 overall and 3-4 in the America East.

Lafayette will travel to Holy Cross for the first round of the Patriot League Tournament on Nov. 3.
