Lafayette College sophomore Morgan Battle
(Princeton, NJ/The Hun School) was named First-Team All-Patriot
League for men's lacrosse.
Battle led the league in scoring for the majority of the season,
finishing the regular season with 35 goals and 16 assists for 51
points. His 4.25 points per game average places him atop the Patriot
League standings with only Army left to play a regular season game.
Battle earned Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week honors for
the week ending April 11. He scored three goals and passed for four
assists in the Leopards' lone action of that week, an 11-10 overtime
victory over Drexel on April 10. The final goal of Battle's hat trick was
the biggest of the game, as he netted the game-winning goal just over
a minute into the overtime session.
Sophomore goalie Duncan Woodard (New Canaan, CT/St. George's)
earned a Second-Team All-Patriot League citation, his second
consecutive naming to the conference's second team.
Woodard carried a 12.50 goals against average for the Leopards while
starting all 13 games. He also managed a .563 saves percentage,
recording 193 saves in 721 minutes in 1999.
The All-Patriot League teams were selected in a vote by the Patriot
League coaches.
Lafayette finished the season with a 4-9 record, recording wins over
VMI, Drexel, Holy Cross and Marist. The Leopards lose just two
starters from this year's squad.
