McClelland Wins ECAC Rookie of the Week Honors

Freshman attack Heather McClelland (Springfield, VA/Kimball-Union) was honored as the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Rookie of the Week in Division I women's lacrosse for the week ending April 10.

McClelland scored seven goals and added four assists in a 3-0 week for the Leopards who are on a six-game winning streak, the program's best showing since the 1991 squad won 16 straight matches and went 16-2 on the season.

McClelland scored three goals and added an assist as Lafayette broke Monmouth University's six-game winning streak with a 12-11 victory on April 6.

She had another hat trick in the Leopards' win over Villanova, 12-6 on April 8, and scored one goal and dished three assists in the 12-11 victory over Holy Cross on April 10.

In her rookie season, McClelland is the team's leading scorer with 31 points, including a team-high 15 assists. She is the only freshman to start all 10 games for the Leopards and also has a team-high three game-winning goals. She was also named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week on April 5.

The Leopards are 7-3 overall, 3-0 in the Patriot League and will host La Salle on Wednesday, April 14 at 3:30 p.m..
