Box Score
PHILADELPHIA, PA - Lafayette fell behind 12-1 after the first two innings, but made a valiant comeback, scoring three runs in the fourth and seven in the sixth inning, eventually falling to host Drexel, 14-11.
Lafayette's starter Kevin Swords suffered a rocky start, and his relief, Josh Oshinsky, wasn't welcomed either, allowing a combined 13 runs, all earned. But freshman Pat Clark came on in the third inning and pitched 2 1/3 innings of shutout ball, allowing just two hits, to enable the Leopards to make a comeback.
And comeback they did. A three run fourth inning started with a double by Ian Burley, and then walks to Mike Palos and Bob Osipower. Freshman first baseman Matt Tambellini rifled a shot to left field, ending up on second with three RBI.
In the sixth, Lafayette managed to tighten the score. Palos led off the inning with a walk and advanced to second on Tambellini's single to left field. Jason Carlough then ripped a double to center field, scoring Palos and chasing Drexel's starter. TJ Stevens greeted the Dragons new pitcher with a pop up to second that the second baseman dropped, and Tye Gonser's walk drove in Tambellini. The big shot came from Ian Burley, with a triple to center field, driving in three runs. All told, the Leopards scored seven runs on four hits.
Unfortunately, Lafayette couldn't must any more offense in the top of the seventh, dropping their tenth game of the season. Burley led the Leopards, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, while Tambellini went 2-for-4, also with three RBI,
