FORKS TOWNSHIP, PA -
Lafayette dropped a nailbiter to 20th ranked (College Lacrosse USA) Bucknell today, 7-5. The Leopards were tied with the visiting Bison with as little as seven minutes remaining in the contest, but Keith Poisella's three fourth-quarter goals finished off Lafayette.
Lafayette held a 2-1 lead early in the second quarter when attackman Kevin Angelis found the net unassisted at 12:26. Bucknell answered quickly, however, just over three minutes later when Kelly Hogue dented the twines, and the Bison took the lead again in the third quarter on Dennis Geraghty's only goal.
The Leopards battled back once again, when Drew Stotler found the net off a feed from Kevin Bromby, one of two assists for him. Lafayette stayed close throughout much of the contest due to the outstanding play of goaltender Duncan Woodard, who made several spectacular saves, and finished with 15 saves on the day.
But in the end, Poisella was too much, scoring three fourth quarter goals for Bucknell, and dropping the Leopards to 1-5, 0-2 in the Patriot League.
Lafayette returns to action on Wednesday, March 29, when they travel to Stony Brook. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
