PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -
Eight different Leopards notched goals, including five scoring multiple tallies, as Lafayette
women's lacrosse (10-4, 5-0 Patriot League Champions) jumped out to an 11-1 half-time lead
and won at Drexel (5-9), 17-4.
Lafayette scored the first nine goals of the game, and were hardly tested. The Leopards
outshot Drexel, 35-11, and picked up 17 more ground balls.
Heather McClelland (Springfield, Va./Kimball Union Academy) once again led the way, scoring five
points on three goals and two assists, while senior Olivia Long (Jenkintown, Pa./Jenkintown)
tossed in four goals of her own. Sophomore defender Emily Hoffman (Granby, Conn./Westminster
School) scored her first career goal in the second half.
Goaltender Leela Strong (Wayland, Mass./Wayland) picked up the win, making just two saves and
allowing only two goals in 45 minutes of action. Freshman goalie Kate Devlin (Southampton, Pa./
Council Rock) saw her most extended playing time of the season, and she shined, making five saves
and allowing just two goals.
Lafayette returns home for its final regular season game against West Chester on Saturday,
beginning at 1 p.m. It is senior day, where the Leopards' eight seniors will be honored for
their four years of dedication to the program.
