Alison Fisher Named Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year

May 26, 2000

EASTON, Pa. - Lafayette College junior defender Alison Fisher (Horsham, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) has been named the Patriot League women's lacrosse Scholar-Athlete of the Year in a vote of the league's sports information offices.

Fisher, who was a key to Lafayette's Patriot League championship season this year, led a defense that allowed just 7.27 goals per game. Fisher started all 15 games this season, to lead the Leopards to an 11-4 mark, the best record at Lafayette since 1993. She picked up 25 ground balls and caused 15 turnovers. Fisher, a consistent ball-handler, turned the ball over just once last season.

Off the field, Fisher is just as successful. Named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association's National Academic Team the past two field hockey seasons, Fisher carries a 3.59 cumulative grade point average, majoring in biology. She has been named to the Patriot League Honor Roll every semester from 1997 to present, and garnered a 3.92 GPA in the fall semester, when she was an integral part of the Leopard field hockey squad that made it to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history.

Fisher also acts as a peer mentor for the NCAA, is active in Lafayette's tutoring program, represents Lafayette on the Patriot League's student-athlete advisory committee, is Vice President of Kappa Kappa Gamma, and volunteers in Lafayette's athletic communication office. She has been named captain of both the lacrosse and field hockey teams for the 2000-01 seasons.
