EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Bryan Bailey scored the game-winning bucket for Bucknell with 11 seconds left in overtime as the Bison broke its six-game losing streak to Lafayette and squeaked out a 74-71 win on the Leopards' home court on Saturday.

Tyson Whitfield's three-pointer as time expired rimmed out and secured the Bison victory.

Lafayette (6-8, 0-2) traded the lead with Bucknell (8-7, 1-1) through much of the first half but the Bison grabbed a two-point edge at 33-31 heading into halftime off a free throw by Boakai Lalugba.

The Leopards took over midway through the second half and grabbed an eight-point lead, 57-49, off a lay-up by freshman Mike Ferrell. Lafayette lost its grip on the lead with 1:22 remaining off a field goal by Jordan Hardenbough, which tied the contest at 63-63. A made field goal by Lafayette's Frank Barr on the next possession was answered by a Bailey lay-up and the teams prepared for the overtime period at 65 points apiece.

A free throw by Barr in overtime put Lafayette ahead but it would be the last lead the home team would see as the Bison lunged ahead on a Lalugba free throw and dunk combination.

Whitfield led the Lafayette scorers with 19 points in the loss. Freshman Ben Saxton, who made his first career start, scored 15 points while recording three steals. Barr also finished in double-digits with 12 points and nine rebounds. Ferrell, also making his first career start, finished the game with eight points and seven rebounds.

The Bison were led by Bailey's 22 points and Lalugba's career-high 16-rebound, 17-point performance in the conference matchup. Brian Werner tied a career-high 15 points and Dan Blankenship had a career-high 13 points in the Bucknell victory.

The Leopards head to Navy on Wednesday for a Patriot League matchup. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in the second game of a doubleheader with the women's teams. A live video webcast of the contest will be available right here at GoLeopards.com.
