LEWISBURG, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Senior center Frank Barr sank a five-footer with three seconds remaining to give Lafayette a 62-60 Patriot League victory over Bucknell in Davis Gymnasium Wednesday evening. The win avenged Lafayette's overtime loss to Bucknell earlier this season, and gives the Leopards their third straight win over Bucknell in Lewisburg.

After Bryan Bailey tied the game at 60-60 on a pair of free throws with 0:32 remaining, Lafayette (8-13, 2-6 Patriot League) took its time on the final possession to set up a good shot. The Leopards moved the ball around the perimeter taking time off the clock before handing the ball to Barr on the low block. The 7-foot center backed in, turned and sank a five-footer for the victory.

The Bison (10-12, 2-6 Patriot Leaguge) scored the final six points of the opening half and held a 30-24 lead at the break. Lafayette had a huge run to begin the second period. Barr led the Leopard attack with eight points in a 16-4 run that turned the momentum and gave Lafayette a 40-34 lead with 15:23 to play.

Lafayette led 50-43 with 9:17 to play before the Bison used an 8-1 outburst to knot the game at 51-51 with 6:35 to play. Bucknell regained the lead on a three-pointer by Bailey just over a minute later, and a second Bailey three with 2:51 to play had the Bison in front, 57-53.

Lafayette answered with one of its nine three-pointers - this one from senior guard Tim Bieg - and then tied the game at 58-58 on a pair of free throws by freshman Justin DeBerry.

After Bucknell missed a jumper on its next possession, Barr had a dunk attempt blocked, but had the presence to pick up the loose ball and lay it in for a 60-58 lead with 1:02 remaining. Bailey was fouled on the ensuing possession setting up his game-tying free throws, which were then followed by Barr's heroics.

Barr finished with a team-high 16 points -- 14 of which came in the second half -- and nine rebounds, while DeBerry added 11 points and Bieg pitched in with 10. In addition to his game-high 20 points, Lalugba had a team-high nine rebounds and three steals for the Bison.

Lafayette hosts Navy this Sunday, Feb. 11, at 4 p.m. in the Kirby Sports Center. GoLeopards.com is providing a live video webcast in addition to the live audio webcast. Tickets are still available for the game and can be purchased right here at GoLeopards.com.
