LEWISBURG, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Lafayette men's lacrosse team lost a 12-5 decision to Bucknell on Saturday afternoon in Patriot League action.
Drew Weisman passed off to Pat Lennon to give Lafayette the first goal of the game just four minutes in as Lennon increased his season total to 20 goals.
Bucknell fired back with three straight scores to go ahead 3-1 early in the second quarter. Patrick Christensen, Rob Lane and Chris Cara each found the back of the net for the Bison.
Matt Parrott added an unassisted tally for Lafayette, scoring his second collegiate goal to make the score 3-2 midway through period two.
Wes Petchet and Lane each added a Bison goal before the half to give Bucknell a 5-2 cushion at halftime.
Bucknell (7-2, 3-0) put three more up on the scoreboard and took an 8-2 lead before Lafayette could find an answer. Mike Fiorillo scored his first of two goals to bring hte Leopards within 8-3 at the end of the third period.
Kelly Hogue, Worthy Sanders and Lane opened the fourth quarter with a goal a piece as Bucknell opened up an 11-3 advantage.
Matt Lukof and Fiorillo tallied the Leopards' last two goals, while Robert McLean assisted on Fiorillo's tally.
Justin Sussman turned in a 13-save performance in goal to spark the Bison, while Michael Koch stopped 11 shots for Lafayette.
Lafayette (1-7, 0-3) returns to action on Saturday when Holy Cross visits Metzgar Field for a 1 p.m. Patriot League game.
