EVANSTON, Ill. (www.lafayette.edu) - Senior forward Jamie Mullarkey (Cramlington, England/Cramlington) scored twice and junior defender Joe Staropoli (Raritan, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) added a goal of his own as Lafayette defeated DePaul, 3-2, at the Lakefront Classic on Friday.

All three Leopard goals came in the first half.

DePaul took a 1-0 lead at 19:03, but Lafayette (4-0-1 overall) scored twice in 100 seconds to take command. Mullarkey's first goal came at 22:03, while Caiella found the back of the net at 23:43. Mullarkey tallied the eventual game-winner at 37:13.

Senior goalkeeper Jay Freedman (Dix Hills, N.Y./Half Hollow East) made eight saves to boost his record to 3-0 in 2003.

Lafayette returns to the field on Sunday, facing Eastern Illinois at 1:30 p.m. as part of the Lakefront Classic.
