Lafayette Field Hockey Garnering National Attention

EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) -The Lafayette field hockey team is once again making national headlines.

Junior Missy Farrand (Mountaintop, Pa.) was named the Division I Player of the Week by womensfieldhockey.com after scoring game-winning overtime goals against Richmond and then ranked No. 4 Penn State last week.

Senior Jennifer Stone (Newtown, Pa.) is currently tied for first in the nation in goals scored with nine and is third nationally in points with 18.

The team also received 49 votes in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Weekly Poll.

Womensfieldhockey.com also placed the Leopards 16th in the national Top 20 after their impressive wins over Penn State and current NFHCA No. 20 Richmond.

The field hockey team is back in action on Sept. 17 at 7 p.m. as it travels to Philadelphia to take on Penn in another non-conference match up. The Leopards will play their first Patriot League contest on Sept. 20 when they host American at 11 a.m. at Rappolt Field.
