Sept. 20, 2003

Box Score

EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Lafayette's field hockey team dropped a 2-1 decision to American at Rappolt Field on Saturday in the Patriot League opener for both teams.

American took a 1-0 lead into intermission on a goal by Kaitlin De Troia with 8:41 remaining in the half.

Senior midfielder Jennifer Stone (Newton, Pa./George School) evened the score with her 11th goal of the season with 21:35 remaining in the second half. Stone had appeared to score earlier in the half, but the goal was waived off after the officials conferred and ruled that Stone's foot had made contact with the ball.

American's Javiera Villagra scored the game-winner 4:33 into overtime.

Senior goalkeeper Casey Devlin (Devon, Pa./Episcopal Academy) made 15 saves for the Leopards.

Lafayette (4-4 overall, 0-1 Patriot League) returns to action on Sunday, hosting Cornell at 1 p.m.
