EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) -Junior Missy Farrand (Mountaintop, Pa.) scored two goals, while seniors Meredith Hahn (Hellertown, Pa.) and Melissa Hoh (Zionsville, Pa.) each had a goal and an assist as the Leopards defeated Cornell 4-1 at Rappolt Field on Sunday.
Farrand scored both of her goals unassisted in the first half. The first came with 29:05 left and the second with 3:53 left in the half.
Hahn opened up the scoring in the second half as she capitalized on a pass from Hoh in front of the cage. Hahn got the ball in the back of the cage with 28:43 remaining in the game.
Hoh and Hahn made a connection again with only 5:26 remaining in the game when Hoh made the best of a crossing shot from Hahn and got the ball past Cornell goalkeeper Kaitlin Tierney.
Karleigh Burns was the only scorer for Cornell. Burns got the ball past Leopard goalkeeper Casey Devlin (Devon, Pa.) with 25:02 left in the second half.
Devlin made five saves for Lafayette. Tierney had 11 for Cornell. The Leopards outshot the Big Red 29-8.
Lafayette will be back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 24 as they take on St. Joseph's at 7 p.m. at Rappolt Field.
