NEWARK, Del. (www.lafayette.edu) - Sophomore Jill Lambert set a new career-high with 17 saves for Lafayette, but nationally-ranked Delaware scratched out a goal in each half to down the Leopards, 2-0, on Tuesday night.
Lambert, who set her previous career-high of 13 saves in Lafayette's 1-0 shutout of Bucknell on Saturday and earned the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week for her efforts, kept her team in the match as the Blue Hens outshot the Leopards, 25-6.
Senior co-captains Emily James and Wynne Campbell each had a defensive save for Lafayette (4-10, 1-2 PL) as well.
Erica LaBar scored her ninth goal of the season off a penalty corner just over five minutes into the match to put Delaware (10-6), ranked No. 17 in the most recent NFHCA poll, ahead 1-0.
Carly Campana netted her first goal of the season with 20 minutes left in the contest to give the Blue Hens an insurance score.
Megan Allen made five saves in goal for Delaware to claim the shutout.
Lafayette will look to level its record in Patriot League play on Saturday, Oct. 16 at Holy Cross.
