Field Hockey Drops Patriot League Opener at American

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (www.lafayette.edu) - American's Maggie Hall had a hat trick in the first seven minutes as the Eagles blitzed Lafayette with four early goals and won 8-2 in the Leopards' Patriot League opener on Saturday afternoon in College Park, Md.

Hall opened the scoring for American (8-2, 2-0 PL) with a goal 4:10 into the match. Then Denise Infante and Hall scored seconds apart before Hall's third goal, at 6:57 in the first half, gave her the hat trick.

Heidi Hershberger recorded two goals and two assists, while Infante chipped in with a pair of goals and an assist.

Senior forward Missy Farrand put Lafayette (2-7, 0-1 PL) on the board six minutes into the second half with her second goal of the season, as she beat a defender and then scored on the breakaway.

Minutes later, junior forward Diane Shane scored her first career goal, which was unassisted.

Allison Fayfich and Makinsie Sheridan split time in goal for American, while Jill Lambert posted nine saves in facing 21 shots.

Lafayette will stay in the Maryland-Washington, D.C. area play a non-league match at Georgetown on Sunday afternoon.
