EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Lafayette field hockey team has elected rising seniors Jenna Bratz, Amanda Eggleston and Kasey Gallagher as tri-captains for the 2005 season, and also selected the Most Improved and Most Valuable Players from 2004.
All three tri-captains are members of a midfield which will return intact next year. Bratz (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) was the choice for Most Valuable Player after earning a spot on the All-Patriot League Second Team. She scored two goals and assisted on another in both her sophomore and junior seasons. A mathematics major, she was the only Patriot League field hockey player to earn a 4.0 GPA during the 2003 season.
Eggleston (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) was also a Second-Team All-Patriot League selection and will be the leading returning scorer next year, with four goals and two assists. Gallagher (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) scored a goal and led Lafayette with five assists.
Sophomore goalkeeper Jill Lambert (Newtown Square, Pa./Shipley School) was named Most Improved Player in her first year as a starter. Lambert was the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week and ECAC Goalkeeper of the Week after shutting out Bucknell, 1-0, and making 13 saves on Oct. 16. She made a career-high 17 saves the following match against Delaware. Lambert also posted a 3-0 shutout on Oct. 3 at Georgetown.
Lafayette (4-14) will return eight starters in 2005. Senior tri-captains Wynne Campbell, Missy Farrand and Emily James were all starters on the 2004 squad.
