Lafayette Men's Lacrosse Falls to Bucknell, 19-5

EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) -Bucknell's Chris Cara, the nations leading point scorer, recorded six goals and five assists to lead the Bison to a 19-5 Patriot League victory over Lafayette on Saturday.

Bucknell's Wes Fetchet scored the first goal of the game off a Cara assist at 13:51 before switching roles to assist on Cara's goal at 8:45.

Lafayette was able to get on the board with 4:41 remaining in the first quarter on an unassisted Bart Seifert tally before Cara rattled off three straight to close out the period.

The Bison's Patrick Christensen, who scored five goals for Bucknell, opened up the second quarter with a goal at 12:32 from a Cara dish. Lafayette's Sean Burek found the back of the net at 10:14 off a Seifert pass. Seifert then recorded his second goal of the day at 6:19.

Bucknell held complete control of the third quarter, scoring six times before Lafayette's Drew Weisman was able to connect on a Andrew Forbes pass with just 1:17 left to play.

The Bison tallied four more points in the final stanza, while the Leopards found the back of the net just once, on a Robert McLean goal with 6:14 on the clock.

Michael Koch, Kevin DeVito and Chris Rosa all combined between the pipes to make 17 saves for the Leopards. Matt Baran and Mark Davis split time for the Bison, making eight stops in the net.

Lafayette (1-10, 0-5) will be back in action on April 13 as they travel to Poughkeepsie, N.Y. to take on Marist at 4 p.m.
