Field Hockey drops 2-0 decision to St. Joseph's

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - St. Joseph's improved its season record to 4-4 and snapped a four match losing streak to Lafayette with a 2-0 win on a clear and comfortable Wednesday night in Philadelphia.

The first half was evenly played, but Angela Hanna converted a penalty stroke five minutes before halftime to put the Hawks up a goal, the eventual game-winner.

Nicole Antonini scored on one of her game-high nine shots 15 minutes into the second half to push the margin to 2-0. Antonini's seventh goal of the season was assisted by Lauren Luft.

Jill Lambert made eight saves in goal for Lafayette, while Rebecca Cunfer earned her second shutout of the year.

Senior defenders Wynne Campbell and Emily James both made defensive saves for the Leopards to keep the score within striking distance, but Lafayette wasn't able to capitalize on its eight penalty corners.

Lafayette (2-5) got two shots each from Amanda Eggleston, Emily Goldman and Missy Farrand.

Lafayette has the weekend off, and will return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 28 at Rappolt Field when the Leopards host Rider at 7 p.m.
