WEST POINT, N.Y. (www.lafayette.edu) - Junior Daria Szkwarko led Lafayette's 1-2-3 sweep in the women's pole vault, and the men's relay team won the 4x800m and was second in the 4x400m at Army's Carlton Crowell Open on Saturday at West Point.
Three men claimed first place in individual events. Senior James Strada won the 60m hurdles with a time of 7.01, freshman Brian Vail won the 800m in 1:57.62, and sophomore Tyler Jones earned the shot put title and qualified for the IC4A indoor championship with a personal record of 51-3.
Szkwarko was first in the pole vault with a height of 10-3 1/2, while Taylor Robinson (8-9 3/4) and Tobie Langsam (7-10) were second and third. Freshman Emily Cholak was second in the triple jump.
The 4x800m relay squad won with a time of 8:12.42, and the 4x400m team was second in 3:31.38. Freshman Thomas Blenk was second in the 60m hurdles, and freshman Aaron Buchman was third at the 800m distance.
A number of Leopard women earned third place finishes: Mary Gillis (5000m), Megan Baker (800m), Katie Schultes (3000m), Ashley Harbin (weight) and Pamela Glennon (shot put).
