NEW YORK, N.Y. (www.lafayette.edu) - Colin McDonough and Brian Vail both made IC4A qualifying times, and Jonathan Rowe, already an IC4A qualifier, improved his distance in the weight throw at the Armory Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 29 in New York.
McDonough turned in a time of 2:29.80 to win the 1000m, while Vail was third in the 500m at 1:04.95. Vail, a freshman, has already qualified in the 800m. Rowe's toss of 56-8 ½ was good for second in the weight.
Emily Cholak was second in both the long jump (17-1 ¼) and triple jump (36-7) to lead the Lafayette women. Pamela Glennon was third in the shot put with a distance of 40-11 ¾, and Daria Szkwarko registered a height of 10-0 to take fifth in the pole vault. Deborah Fink (500m), Meghan Baker (800m) and Brittany Waldron (1000m) all brought home fifth-place finishes as well.
The Leopard men received a strong performance in the field events from Jeffrey Sejour, who won the triple jump at 44-5 ¼. Michael DeGregorio was third in the shot put (45-3), and Andrew Brown was fourth (44-11). Adam Callaghan was fourth in the high jump with a leap of 6-2 ¾.
Alex Wechsler (fourth, 1000m) and Richard Jackson (fifth, 500m) pushed McDonough and Vail in their events. Gregory Swiatocha was fifth in the mile in 4:30.66, while Thomas Blenk ran the 60m hurdles in 8.59 seconds for another fifth-place showing.
Lafayette had two women compete in the Lehigh Multis, also held on Saturday. Leigh Kalinowski was fourth in the indoor pentathlon with 2825 points, and Monika Sajduk was seventh with 2651 points.
