Midway through the first half, a scramble at the net awarded Lafayette a penalty stroke. Junior Maggie DeFilippo won her battle with Cornell goalkeeper Lizzie Goldblatt and scored the would-be the game-winner at the 18:04 mark.
The Leopards kept up the defensive pressure down the stretch, but allowed the Big Red to squeak in a goal with just under six minutes to play. Cornell's Belen Martinez scored on a penalty corner at the 5:28 mark. Teammates Natalie Serle and Blair Corcoran were credited with the assists.
Junior Jill Lambert played all 70 minutes in the cage for the Leopards. She recorded 12 saves, including a big stop during a Cornell penalty stroke situation. Goldblatt finished the day with six saves.
