EASTON, Pa. - Following the inaugural Lafayette field hockey alumni game featuring 35 returning players, 25-year head coach Ann Gold was honored with the dedication of the field hockey team room in the newly renovated McCracken Varsity house.

"First of all, I was totally shocked by this. All of these wonderful people that were behind the scenes planning this day, donating money, coming up with these ides and keeping it a secret from me," Gold said. "I am really touched by all of the work that went into this. This day means so much to me, I am just shocked and stunned."

Lafayette alumni, family, friends, faculty and other coaches were part of the almost 200 donors involved in the dedication of the Ann Gold Team Room. Over 100 alumni, family and friends returned to Metzgar Fields to be a part of the dedication ceremony.

"I want to thank everyone, our two biggest supporters, Bill Rappolt and Dr. Bill Oaks, coaches, alumni, and all of Lafayette athletics for their continued support," Gold said.

Gold was elected to Emerita Status following her 25 year coaching career on College Hill. She served as both the field hockey and women's lacrosse head coach from 1982 to 1999, leading the teams to a combined 29 winning seasons.

The winningest coach at Lafayette retired following the 2006 season after coaching 790 field hockey and women's lacrosse games and left Easton with 477 career wins. During her tenure she received Patriot League Coach of the Year honors five times for field hockey and twice for lacrosse.

Following the alumni events the 2007 Leopards defeated 3-2 Lehigh on Rappolt Field.
