Padilla Earns All-America Award From The Associated Press

Dec. 12, 2007

EASTON, Pa. - Senior offensive tackle Jesse Padilla (Hawthorne, N.J./Hawthorne) has been named to the Associated Press All-America Second Team, announced Wednesday evening. This comes two days after Padilla was named to the FCS All-America team by the American Football Coaches Association.

Padilla is the 27th player from Lafayette to earn All-America status from the AP. His predecessor at tackle, Mike Saint Germain '06, was also honored by both organizations following his senior season.

Padilla is a two-time All-Patriot League recipient, making the first team in 2007. Padilla started 25 games during his career, and made the switch from right to left tackle his senior season. He led an offensive line that helped roll out 364.5 yards of offense and 25.5 points per game.

He is one of three players from the Patriot League to receive the accolade. Colgate linebacker Mike Gallihugh and Fordham punter Benjamin Dato also made the All-America Second Team.
