EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Lafayette offensive lineman Mike Saint Germain (Morris Plains, N.J./Morristown) and tailback Jonathan Hurt (Orlando, Fla./Boone) have been named to the All-America team by the Football Gazette.
Saint Germain was a first team All-Northeast Region selection and a third team All-American, marking the third All-America honor he has received. Saint Germain was also recognized on the first team by the AFCA and the third team by the Associated Press, to go with commendation from the ECAC (I-AA All-Star Team) and College Sporting News (member of the "Fabulous 50").
Hurt was named second team All-Northeast Region by the Football Gazette and is an honorable mention All-American. The Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year ran for 1,165 yards and 15 touchdowns and had 1,464 all-purpose yards, a total that ranks 10th in school history.
Three seniors were named third team all-region - wide receiver Joe Ort (Deltona, Fla./New Smyrna Beach), defensive lineman Marvin Snipes (Philadelphia, Pa./Bartram) and defensive back Torian Johnson (Largo, Fla./Largo).
Ort finished his career ranked eight in receiving yards (1,551) and seventh in receiving yards in a single season (814). He also holds the single game record with 274 yards against Georgetown.
Snipes was a two-time first team All-Patriot League selection and had 11.5 career sacks and seven forced fumbles. Johnson was named second team all-league as a junior and first team as a senior. He had eight career interceptions, and led the team in picks in each of his three years as a starter.
