BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Nearly three weeks removed from their last meet, the Lafayette men's and women's cross country teams competed in the 35th annual Lehigh University Brooks Paul Short Run on Friday. The women's team placed 34th out of 43 teams while the men finished 42nd out of 45 entries.
Junior Rose Kennedy led the women with a team-best 22:29 in the 6K race to place among the top half of the finishers (123 of 301 finishers). Freshman Sarah Welsh-Huggins was five seconds behind her teammate.
Freshman Erika Stasakova posted a time of 22:42 while senior Kaela Mahon finished with a time of 23:40.
Junior Kerry Taylor crossed the finish line at 24:08, freshman Erin Mee finished at 24:24 and sophomore Lauren Holck rounded out the group with a time of 24:53. The women finished with a combined time of 2:14:13.
As for the men, sophomore Ryan Stasiowski finished with a team-best time of 25:51. Freshmen trio Matt Keehn (26:49), Scott Tibbetts (27:00) and Josh Sadlock (27:12) comprised the bulk of the group.
Sophomore Colin McCullough posted a time of 27:23 while juniors Matt Deblander and Sean Casey ran times of 28:05 and 28:57, respectively.
Up next for Lafayette, the teams will host the Leopard Invitational on Oct. 18 at 10 a.m.
