REHOBOTH, Del. -

Sophomore Cody Sumpter led the Lafayette men's golf team to a fifth-place finish in the Rehoboth Beach Invitational in Rehoboth, Del., on Monday.

Sumpter sank a tournament-leading 26 pars en route to his 10-over-par 150 to tie for fourth place.

Senior Anoop Shah and freshman Carter Rufe just missed placing within the top 20. Shah tied for 22nd with a 158 while Rufe trailed his teammate by one stroke to tie for 26th place.

Andrew Carlins posted a 162 while senior Ken Suarez rounded out with a 163.

The Leopards travel to Hamilton, N.Y., on Friday to compete in the Colgate Fall Invitational.
