EASTON, Pa. - The Lafayette golf program took a major step forward in terms of off-season preparation with the permanent installation of a golf simulator in Kirby Sports Center.
The state-of-the-art space, powered by a Trackman simulator, features more than 490 courses and includes detailed swing analysis and ball flight data. The space will allow members of the team to train year round within their academic schedules. The simulator was made possible by a lead gift from Dr. Ted Banko, one of the Maroon and White's assistant coaches, as well as several other donors.
"The Trackman golf simulator is a tremendous addition to our program," said head coach Jim Hutnik. "It's another training tool that will aid in our players' development and will be a real game changer for us."
The simulator installation follows the addition of a Lafayette-branded team van which the Leopards began using during the fall season. That vehicle was made possible through donations of golf alumni and parents.
"These are exciting additions that reaffirm the strong commitment of alumni, families and supporters to provide an exceptional experience for Lafayette golf," said Lafayette Director of Athletics Sherryta Freeman. "We are thankful to our donors for allowing us to debut the customized golf van in the fall, and now the simulator will give our program a critical piece of technology that will create additional opportunities for growth and development."
