FRIPP ISLAND, S.C. - Winston Kelenc-Blank turned in his best round of the fall season on Saturday at the Fripp Island Invitational, hosted by South Carolina Upstate. The junior fired nine birdies in the first round to shoot a five-under-par 66. With two days remaining, Kelenc-Blank is tied with Central Michigan's Keith Hunter for first place.

The Leopards carded an even-par 284 in their first round. Lafayette currently sits in second in the nine-team field at the par-71, 6,511-yard Ocean Creek Golf Club.

Senior Harry Dessel landed in 15th after shooting a 72. Travis Robertson and Viktor Kofod-Olsen each carded a two-over-par 73 to find themselves in a tie for 21st. Freshman Liam Brandt rounded out the team in 48th after turning in a 79.

Chris Vahey, Reed Theiss and Hudson Pace represent the Maroon and White as individuals in the event. Vahey, the second freshman participating, is ninth with an even-par 71. He recorded four birdies in the round, including three of the last four holes. Theiss (76) and Pace (78) landed in 39th and 45th, respectively. 

Sitting atop the team leaderboard is Gardner-Webb, shooting a one-under-par 283 with a one-stroke lead over the Leopards. Kelenc-Blank and Hunter are a stroke ahead of Gardner-Webb's Jude Carper with 36 holes left to play.

Lafayette retakes the course on Sunday at 9 a.m.
