The Lafayette football program finished the 2009 season as the Patriot League attendance leader for the second consecutive year, averaging over 8,000 fans in state-of-the-art Fisher Stadium. The Leopards used the home crowd to its advantage, going 4-1 in home contests throughout the 2009 season.
The accomplishment marks the first time Lafayette has led the Patriot League in attendance in a season it did not host the Lafayette vs. Lehigh game that season.
Fisher Stadium welcomed a season-high 10,197 fans in a steady rain through an exhilarating overtime win over Penn, the Leopards' fourth-consecutive victory over its Ivy League counterpart.
In all, close to 50,000 fans made their way into Fisher Stadium, solidifying and continuing Lafayette's position as the best game-day atmosphere in the Patriot League.
The Leopards finished the season with an 8-3 record and finished the season ranked No. 24 in the nation. Lafayette is the only Patriot League football program to record a winning season and be ranked in the top-25 each of the past six seasons.
