HAMILTON, N.Y. - Lafayette's offensive attack in the top of the seventh allowed the Leopard softball team to swipe a 4-3 victory from Colgate in Saturday's first game. However, the Raiders responded in kind in the second game to swindle a 3-2 victory in the doubleheader.

Kasey Karr hit her first homerun of the season in the first inning of the first game to give Lafayette a 1-0 lead. Colgate tied it in the bottom of the third after Jennifer Ortega doubled to right center and then scored on a throwing error.

The Raiders took a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the sixth thanks in part to doubles by Melissa Babb-Rentz and Ortega.

Lafayette fired back in the top of the seventh. Christina Giambrone drew a walk in the leadoff spot and Stacey Kushner continued her hitting streak (six games) with a single through the left side. The pair each advanced a base off a passed ball.

Kristin Garganio singled to centerfield and Stacey Dorn singled to right center in the next two at bats to draw in the RBI.

The Leopards loaded the bases and Garganio scored the winning run on a throwing error by the pitcher, Jesse McCarrick.

In the second game, the two squads battled through three scoreless innings before Lafayette put up two runs in the fourth and fifth innings.

Giambrone doubled in the top of the fourth and advanced to third when Kushner singled through the left side. Giambrone scored on a throwing error by the catcher.

In the top of the fifth, Carly Feiro drew a walk and fellow freshman Gwen Turner doubled to left center. Karr had a sacrifice fly to right field that drove in Feiro.

Facing a 2-0 deficit, the Raiders scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to steal the win. Babb Rentz singled to left center to drive in two of the runs.

Giambrone went 2-for-3 with two runs and two walks for the day.

Lafayette picks play back up on Sunday with its final Patriot League doubleheader at noon. The Leopards can finish no higher than a No. 4 seed in the Patriot League Tournament. Below are the possible scenarios that would need to play out around the league on Sunday in order for Lafayette to earn a berth:
