Five golfers earned Academic Honor Roll status.

EASTON, Pa. - Five Lafayette golfers were named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll on Wednesday morning.

One senior, two sophomores and two freshmen earned honor roll status. Freshman Michael Curcio (Economics and Business) led the squad with his 3.75 grade-point average (GPA). The team finished with a 3.02 GPA for the spring semester.

Senior Biology major Steven Melnic posted a 3.35 GPA. Sophomores Erik Adolfsson (Electrical and Computer Engineering) and Cody Sumpter (Economics and Business) and freshman Thomas Culp (Economics and Business) completed the list.

Melnic, who also earned a minor in Health Care and Society, conducted honors research during the spring semester under assistant professor of Biology James Dearworth. Melnic was a student tutor and was also active with the Landis Community Outreach Center.

During the January interim session, Sumpter completed an externship with the Financial Planning Office of David K. Mitchell in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.

To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 GPA in the spring semester and be awarded a varsity letter in one of the Patriot League's 16 winter or spring championship sports. The criteria for awarding varsity letter are different at each institution.
