EASTON, Pa. -
The Lafayette women's lacrosse team has announced 10 student-athletes that will join the team as members of the Class of 2013. The players hail from five different states and also include three All-America honorable mention players.
Samantha Dalmass (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) is one of six players who could see time at attack for Lafayette. Dalmass, who is also expected to see action at midfield, played for a Moorestown squad that won the 2009 Tournament of Champions and finished the spring ranked eighth nationally by LaxPower.com. Moorestown also captured the Group 3 title in back-to-back years (2008-09). Dalmass, who played two years of varsity soccer at Moorestown, played club lacrosse with South Jersey Select for three years.
Also an attacker, Ana Drehwing (Wyckoff, N.J./Ramapo) joins sister Maria, currently a senior on the squad. Drehwing was selected as the Ramapo High School Athlete of the Year in 2009 and was also tabbed the Jersey Sports Athlete of the Year. She earned four varsity letters in lacrosse and was a First-Team All-North Jersey and first-team all-league honoree as a senior. Drehwing helped lead Ramapo to three-straight league titles and was a member of three state sectional semifinalist squads. A two-year captain, she led her team in scoring as both a junior (63 goals) and a senior (68). Drehwing was a three-year letterwinner in basketball, as well, and picked up first team all-league honors as a senior.
Addie Godfrey (Princeton, N.J./The Hun School) is also an attack who finished her career at The Hun School with 130 goals and 60 assists. As a senior, she tallied 52 goals and 33 assists en route to being named team MVP. Those numbers also earned her NJISAA First-Team All-State honors as a senior as well as being named the Trentonian Player of the Year. Godfrey also picked up an All-America Honorable Mention in 2009. She spent three years with the Tri-State club lacrosse team and also played varsity field hockey at The Hun School.
Also a New Jersey native, Katie Leto (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) was a three-year varsity starter for Chatham. She served as team captain during a senior season in which she led the county in assists. Leto, who will play attack for the Leopards, was a first-team all-county and Second-Team All-Iron Hills Conference player last spring. She helped lead Chatham to a state title in 2008 and was an all-conference honorable mention selection that season. Leto was also a two-time member of the Schoolgirls National Tournament team (2007, 2008). A two-sport athlete at Chatham, she earned three varsity letters in soccer. Leto was a two-year honor roll member and received the Meritorious Achievement Award in 2009.
Cameron Linville (Princeton, N.J./Princeton Day School), a player who should see time at both midfield and attack, was a four-year varsity player for Princeton Day School. She was a two-time member of the NJISSA Division A First Team who surpassed 100 career goals. The Princeton Packet named her the Player of the Year following her senior season which also saw her earn an All-America honorable mention. Linville, who also played four years of varsity soccer, played club lacrosse with Tri-State. She was also selected as a USL National Tournament Senior Division All-Star. Linville joins her family on a long list of Lafayette alumni. Her father played soccer and lacrosse for the Leopards and her grandfather was a member of the soccer team. Her mother played on the 1980 national championship women's lacrosse team.
A defender, Victoria Maxon (Bothell, Wash./Holy Names Academy) was a four-year starter and like Linville was an All-America honorable mention as a senior. Maxon, who was team captain last spring, earned two Academic All-America honors and was a two-time First-Team All-State selection. She played club lacrosse with XTEAM and Puget Sound Select and was a member of Northwest 1, a national tournament team, from 2007-08. At Holy Names Academy, Maxon was a three-year member of the National Honor Society and class valedictorian. She also holds two black belts in mixed martial arts.
Katie Mischler (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Mt. St. Joseph Academy), a defender, was a four-year varsity contributor and team captain at Mt. St. Joseph's. During her senior season, she scored 15 goals as a defender, led the team in assists with 21 and won 157 of 202 draw controls. She was tabbed team MVP and was named an Athletic Association of Catholic Academies (AACA) All-Star. Mischler played club lacrosse with Ultimate Goal. She also played four years of varsity tennis at Mt. St. Joseph's and was a three-time AACA Tennis All-Star. Academically, Mischler was the recipient of the Jean Ann McGowan Award and graduated with Distinguished honors.
Joining Mischler on defense is Caitlin Mitchell (Plymouth, Vt./Holderness School). A three-sport athlete at Holderness, Mitchell won the Most Improved Award in 2008 and received the Coaches Award as a senior. Mitchell was selected to play for Team Upper New England in the 2008 National Tournament and played club lacrosse for the Granite States Elite. Mitchell also played soccer and was a competitive skier during her four years of high school, as well.
Jess Rothstein (Narbeth, Pa./Harriton) is expected to see time at both midfield and defense for the Leopards. Rothstein netted 87 goals, added 46 assists and had 178 groundballs over her final two years of high school. She was a First-Team All-Central League and First-Team All-Main Line Times selection as a junior and senior. During her junior campaign, she helped lead her team to a league championship and was named the Harriton Lacrosse Player of the Year. Rothstein spent three years with the Ultimate Goal Lacrosse club team. She earned 10 varsity letters in lacrosse, basketball, soccer and field hockey at Harriton and received the Principals Award as a senior. She was also named the Lee Scott Rubin Athlete of the Year and the Harriton High School Athlete of the Year in 2009 and was Pennsylvania Governor's School of Excellence participant.
This summer, Jess has gotten a jumpstart on her Lafayette education as she has been selected to take part in an engineering program on campus.
Rounding out the class is Alana Siegel (Syosset, N.Y./Syosset). Siegel, an attacker, was an all-conference selection and team captain in 2009. She played club lacrosse with the Long Island Yellow Jackets. She was a member of the winter track team at Syosset and was also a member of the National Honor, Latin, Italian and American Sign Language Societies. Siegel participated in the Athletic Leadership Council and was honored by Syosset for her academic achievement in AP Biology.
