EASTON, Pa. - Harvard racked up 311 rushing yards en route to a 35-10 win at Lafayette on Saturday. Tailback Gino Gordon accounted for 170 yards and two touchdowns while Harvard quarterbacks threw just 13 passes on the brisk fall day at Fisher Stadium.

Ivy league favorite Harvard (2-1) registered three first-half scores. On the opening kick off, Marco Ianuzzi returned a kick 50 yards to the Lafayette 46. He finished the day with 92 yqards on two kick returns. Wide receiver Mike Cook tore off a 30-yard run around the end on Harvard's drive before Gordon pounded in the score from two yards out to put Harvard up 7-0.

Harvard used more of the same to move to a 14-0 lead. Four different ballcarriers, including QB Colton Chapple, ran for a combined 47 yards before Chapple hit Kyle Juszczyk for a nine-yard pass. The drive covered 68 yards on eight plays in 3:08. Chapple started for the injured Andrew Hatch who sat out the game after sustaining a concussion in Harvard's loss to Brown.

The Crimson's next scoring drive started just short of midfield. Gordon scampered 35 yards before runs of 14 and five yards by Treavor Scales made it 21-0. Harvard finished the first half with 189 yards on the ground with Gordon accounting for 92.

Lafayette added a 45-yard field goal by Davis Rodriguez with 33 seconds left in the half to cut the margin to 21-3. The Leopards' drive covered 52 yards in 11 plays in 2:47. Lafayette QB Ryan O'Neil was 20-of-26 for 124 yards in the first half while the running game accounted for 35 yards.

Early in the second half, Harvard had the ball 3rd-and-15 on its own 26-yard line when Gordon ran through the Lafayette defense for a 74-yard touchdown and a 28-3 lead.

Harvard added another score with one minute remaining in the third quarter as Rich Zajeski punched in a one-yard TD to cap a six-play, 47-yard drive. The Crimson led 35-3 lead.

The standout highlight on the day may have told the story of the game for the Leopards. Leopard kick returner Jet Kollie returned a kick-off 94 yards for an apparent touchdown. The play was wiped away by a block in the back penalty called away from the ball at the inception of the play. Lafayette was whistled for 10 penalties for 109 yards, including two personal foul penalties on one play.

Sophomore quarterback Andrew Shoop saw the first playing time of his career late in the fourth quarter and took advantage of his opportunity. He found freshman fullback Greg Kessel for an 18-yard touchdown with 4:59 left in the game to put the final at 35-10.

Lafayette finishes its four-game Ivy League swing at Columbia (2-1) on Oct. 9 in a 12:30 p.m. kick off. The Lions are coming off a 31-14 lashing of Princeton on Saturday afternoon.

NOTES:
Lafayette is 0-4 for the first time since 1998, two years before Frank Tavani took over the head coaching reins.

The Leopards were without starting cornerback and special teams standout Kyni Scott who was injured in practice on Thursday. Soph. TB Vaughn Hebron, who sustained a knee injury in the same practice, is out for the season with a knee injury.

The last time a Lafayette defense gave up 300+ rushing yards was Oct. 18, 2003 at Harvard when the Crimson had 321 yards.

Reigning Patriot League Special Teams player of the Week, Rodriguez, served as the special teams game captain.
