BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The men's and women's cross country team battled rainy and muddy conditions on Friday as Lafayette took part in the 37th annual Brooks-Paul Short Run in Bethlehem, Pa. The women's team was led by freshman Rose Willey as she paced the team with a 24th-place finish and a time of 22:39 in the 6k.
The women's team finished 18th overall in the meet with 490 points and an average time of 23:30. Rutgers University took the top spot with 118 points.
Junior Lauren Kelly clocked in at 22:43 for a 27th place finish. Erika Stasakova (23:42), Lauren Holck (24:10), Julissa Muschlitz (24:16), Elizabeth Troisi (24:24) and Erin Mee (24:39) rounded out the women's team.
The Lafayette men's team was led by senior captain Ryan Stasiowski and his time of 26:32 and a 59th place finish. The Leopards finished 30th overall with an average time of 27:23 and 729 points in the 8k. Princeton placed first for the men with 36 points.
Josh Sadlock (27:05), Will Volkmann (27:23), Dayne Mosconi (27:41), Mike Kelly (28:12), Matt Keehn (28:32) and Sam Brinton (28:35) competed for Lafayette.
Lafayette is back in action when the Leopards host their annual Leopard Invitational at Metzgar Fields on Oct. 16. Races are set to begin at 10 a.m.
