DAVIDSON, N.C. - Sixteen Davidson goals were too much for the Leopards to overcome as they fell 16-7 on Wednesday night in North Carolina.
Freshman Addie Godfrey provided a bright spot for Lafayette (0-7) with a team-leading three goals. Lauren Brown finished with a goal and an assist on four shots.
Leopard goalie Emily Bjork registered her fourth-straight double-digit save performance with 11 against the Wildcats. Davidson (4-4) used eight goals in each half to come away with the win as Jen Crawford and Alanna Parker paced the team with five goals apiece.
The Leopards fell into a 4-0 hole midway through the opening half on a streak that included two goals from Crawford, the team's second-leading scorer.
Back-to-back goals by Godfrey and Erin Steel cut that lead in half but the Wildcats closed out the final 11 minutes with four of the final six goals to take an 8-3 halftime lead.
Davidson continued its hot pace in the second half. Haley Cook and Parker opened the half with two unanswered scores before Godfrey netted her second goal of the night.
The Wildcats put the game out of reach with a 5-0 run that took seven minutes off the clock and upped their lead to 10 (15-5) with 15:45 remaining.
Godfrey and Jessica Rothstein netted the final two goals for Lafayette.
The Leopards return to the Lehigh Valley on Saturday night when they travel to Patriot League rival Lehigh for a 7 p.m. game.
