EASTON, Pa. - Lafayette hit three homers and had eight hits in the first game of the series against Bucknell but fell in the end 6-5. The Bison played strong defense in the second game and went on to win 9-1.
The Leopards got their first run in the first, with Jordan Parsons on second after a double, Kristin Garganio followed with a double of her own to bring Parsons home.
Bucknell came back with two runs in the second as Alyssa Okita grounded out to second base to bring around Alison Ford for the tie. The Bison's second run of the inning was off an error that brought home Ford, Bucknell led 2-1.
In the third inning Parson hit her first home run of the season to left field and tied the game 2-2.
The Bison took their biggest lead in the fifth inning when they put up three runs. Lauren Fry came home off a Ford single while Sherry Finkel doubled with a runner on first and second to pick up two RBI.
In the bottom of the sixth, Stacey Kushner hit a home run to lead off the inning. Emily Noel got up to bat with Stacey Dorn on first and hit a triple to pick up two RBI. Lafayette got within one run, 5-4
Bucknell's Shelly McCormack led the seventh inning with a double for the Bison. On a sacrifice hit by Finkel, pinch runner Laura Sanford came in for the score, Bison led 6-4.
In the final inning, Lafayette scored its final run off Kasey Karr home run. With three homers for Lafayette, it was not enough as the Bison won 6-5.
Karr in the loss, pitched all seven innings giving up eight hits and striking out four.
The Leopards lost their momentum in second game as they fell 9-1. The lone Lafayette run came in the fourth inning when Madeline Allen hit a double and brought home Dorn for the score.
In the loss, Ali Henery pitched 1.1 innings giving up six runs and nine hits, relief pitcher Christine Hilcken pitched 3.2 innings with three runs and six hits.
