EASTON, Pa. - Freshman Jordan Parsons hit her eighth double of her colligate career to bring home senior Kasey Karr in game one for Lafayette (10-21, 1-7) as the run gave the Leopards their first Patriot League win over Bucknell, 5-4. The Bison's defense stepped up the final game of the series and beat Lafayette 3-1.

It took five innings before anything could happen in game as Stacey Kushner led off for the Leopards in the inning with a walk. Stacey Dorn followed with a double picking up her 15th RBI this year.

Emily Noel was hit by the pitch and took her place at first, Cody Kugler came in to pinch run for Dorn on second. Madeline Allen reached on an error by pitcher Jane Messersmith, with the bases loaded off a wild pitch, Kugler came in for the score. Pinch hitter Kerry Griffin came in and singled to left field bringing home Allen and Noel for the score. The Leopards led 4-0.

Bucknell (15-11, 5-3) rallied back and scored four runs of their own in the bottom of the fifth. Alyssa Okita singled up right field, Lauren Trosch pinch ran for Okita. Mary Horton reached on an error by Parsons. After a walk by Lauren Fry the bases were loaded as Shelly McCormack double to center field and picked up three RBI.

The Bison's final run of the inning came off an Alison Ford sacrifice fly that brought around Lauren Stanford for the score. The game was tied up 4-4.

In the seventh inning, Carly Feiro led off with a single to center field, followed by Gwen Turner reaching on a fielder's choice getting Feiro out at second. Karr also reached on a fielder's choice that got Turner out at second as well.

Parsons was up to bat with Karr on first and slammed a double to the center field fence and brought Karr around and broke Lafayette out of a 10-game slide, 5-4.

Karr pitched all seven innings in the win, giving up seven hits and four runs and striking out four.

Bucknell's defense came back strong in the second game give up only one run in the first inning.

Lafayette was up to bat first when Kristin Garganio hit a home run beyond center field and gave the Leopards their lone run.

Bucknell scored all three of its runs in the fourth inning and went on to win its third game of the series 3-1.

In the loss, Karr pitched six innings giving up three runs and striking out two batters.

The Leopards will hit the road to take on St. Peter's on Tuesday for a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
