EASTON, Pa. - The Lafayette swimming and diving team has made an addition to the roster, adding assistant coach Jennifer Scott. Scott arrives on College Hill after spending a year as assistant swim coach at Wilson High School.
Prior to her arrival at Wilson, Scott served as a swim lesson instructor at West Chester and gave private swim lessons to children. She also served as a counselor at the 2008 Lehigh Swim Camp, where she conducted nutrition lessons for ages 6-17.
Scott graduated from West Chester University in December of 2009 with a Bachelor of Science degree with Honors in Education. Head coach Jim Dailey said of Scott, "Jen's enthusiasm for the sport and commitment to training while she was a swimmer will aid in the improvement of our individual student-athletes and that of the team. Jen was a very strong student while at West Chester earning Athletic Directors Academic Honor Roll, Division II Athletics Director Association Academic Achievement Award and Conference Scholar-Athlete recognition. Her experience being a student will also play a positive role for our teams which strive for academic excellence."
Serving in many different swimming environments, ranging from lifeguard to coach, Scott has been instructing young people from ages 3-18 for nearly 10 years. That kind of experience should prove to be valuable for the Leopard's swimming and diving team. "I'm looking forward to working with Jen. Her experiences as a collegiate swimmer and captain while at West Chester University will prove to be very helpful to the men's and women's teams' which graduated 15 student-athletes last year," said Dailey. "There will be 23 first year swimmers for the 2010-11 season and Jen's ability as an educator to communicate will be essential."
