BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Despite a 5-0 third quarter run to claw back into the game, the Lafayette men's lacrosse team fell short against Lehigh on Saturday night in the season finale of the 2011 campaign.

The Mountain Hawks jumped out to a 3-0 lead before Greg Allis got the Leopards on the board with 16 seconds remaining in the first quarter.

After Lehigh responded to open the second period, Allis found senior co-captain Stefan Bauer for a goal on a Leopard man-up opportunity with 10:32 remaining before halftime.

The remainder of the quarter belonged to the Mountain Hawks, rattling off six straight goals to cap off the first half and two to open the third period scoring.

From there, Lafayette made its run. An unassisted goal from Ryan Hansen, his eighth of the year, began the Leopard streak.

Less than two minutes later, Bauer tallied his 11th goal of his senior season on an assist from classmate Franklin Floyd.

Floyd added a tally of his own at the 3:44 mark, as Lafayette cut the deficit to 12-5 with plenty of time still left in the third period.

Fourty-one seconds later, senior co-captain Cesar Munoz rattled in an unassisted goal and his fellow co-captain Tom Perini notched his 29th goal of the year to suddenly pull Lafayette back within striking distance.

However, Lehigh ended the Leopard run with 13 seconds remaining in the quarter and secured the only goal of the fourth quarter to walk away with a 14-7 win.

Lafayette was 3-for-7 on man-up chances. Munoz was 11-for-23 on face-offs.

Perini leaves College Hill as the all-time leader in career goals. He added one to his total in the final game of his historic Leopard career.

Senior defensemen Jon Marcek and Spencer Philpot combined for five groundballs. Philpot also added two caused turnovers.
