EASTON, Pa. - Lafayette freshman midfielder Ana White (Swarthmore, Pa./Strath Haven) was named Patriot League Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Year, on Tuesday.
She is the eighth player in school history to be named Rookie of the Year in women's lacrosse. Sophomore Addie Godfrey won the award in 2010.
White and three other Leopards were named to the All-Patriot League Second Team. Godfrey, an attack has been honored for the second consecutive year, with sophomore Caitlin Mitchell and freshman Rachel Martin selected on defense.
White, a Biology major, leads the nation with 89 draw controls (5.56 per game) and leads Lafayette with 45 ground balls and 35 caused turnovers. She was second on the team in scoring (29 goals) and had a team-high 44 points.
White recorded a Lafayette and Patriot League record 12 draw controls against Navy on March 20, the third-best total in NCAA history.
The midfielder picked up her second Patriot League Rookie of the Week honor on Monday afternoon. White's first award came on Feb. 28, and she was named Midfielder of the Week on April 4.
Godfrey (Princeton, N.J./The Hun School) led the team in scoring with 36 goals and added seven assists for a 43-point season. She had 26 draw controls and 11 groundballs for the season.
Mitchell (Plymouth, Vt./Holderness School) has started in all 16 games for the Leopards on defense. She has picked up 27 ground balls and has 11 caused turnovers.
Martin (Belle Mean, N.J./Montgomery) has also starting in all 16 games this season with 20 ground balls and seven draw controls.
