BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lafayette track and field team took on rival Lehigh in a dual meet held at Rauch Fieldhouse on Saturday afternoon. Lehigh came away with a 97-84 victory on the men's side and a 109.5-71.5 win over the Lafayette women.
Jerome Rudolph earned ECAC and IC4A status with his first place distance of 7.32m in the long jump. Another first place finish in the 60 meter dash put Rudolph in the ECAC and IC4A class after he ran the race in 6.89 seconds. Rudolph also posted a time of 22.48 in his first place finish in the 200 meter dash.
Nick Hepp broke the tape in the 400 meter dash in 50.66 seconds, .13 faster than second place. In the 500 meter dash, Bill Leonard crossed the line first with a time of 1:06.97.
Nick Henderson and Michael Thompson placed first and second in the pole vault, posting heights of 4.50m and 4.35m to combine to earn eight points for Lafayette.
Chris Parker's time of 1:57.92 in the 800 meter run was good enough for first place.
The 3,000 meter run saw Josh Sadlock lead the field with his time of 8:53.44, nearly four seconds faster than second place.
The 4x400m relay combined Neil Franzese, Chris Pregler, Ryan McVeigh, Nick DeRosa, Leonard and Hepp who recorded a time of 3:25.23 to win the event.
Parker and Pregler partnered with Andrew Haff, Matt Piazza and Derrick Hargwood to take first, clocking in at 8:17.52.
On the women's side, Elise Buffinton and Brooke Kohler claimed the top two positions in the pole vault, leaping 3.35m and 3.05m, respectively.
Joelle Neilson and Brittany Powell took the top two spots in the triple jump with individual lengths of 11.75m and 11.16m, in that order.
